This break-out session, Propel Your Literacy Lessons with Dance/Movement, (The Ultimate in Active Learning), specifically dance, will use familiar songs and familiar language to enhance students' understanding of literature. Students become motivated by connecting to their own language and connecting to their own lives, which leads to a higher level of engagement and learning. By using dance and songs I will demonstrate how the students can form their own questions, draw conclusions, and create their own unique answers to the original question. Come ready to participate in an active learning style, but you don’t have to know anything about dance to do this. There will also be time for teacher collaboration. A detailed hand-out will be given.
